Maxwell Jacob Friedman returned to his hometown of Long Island, New York at AEW Dynamite this week and decided to enjoy signing the contract for his match against Wardlow at Double or Nothing. Before entering the ring, he played a promotional package to tease a futuristic (fake) episode of Dark Side of the Ring, which epitomizes Wardlow’s betrayal of Friedman in Revolution during a dog collar match with CM Punk. Chris Jericho (who noted his history with Max but kept working due to payday), Taz and Barry Horowitz were both overly emotional, along with a brand reenactment of the series.
Once Friedman was in the ring, he set the terms of the match, which are similar to his feud with Cody Rhodes from 2019-20. This includes Friedman’s 10 belt lashes and a Steel Cage match with Shawn Spears, although this time Friedman will be the special guest referee. Also, Wardlow must reach double or nothing And lose, he’ll never be able to sign a contract with AEW.
